Interdisciplinary Training and Education
Prior to medical school, Dr. Demsey studied chemical engineering at Queen’s University. His keen analytical mind and lifelong passion for learning led him to join the Clinician Investigators Program (CIP) during his postgraduate medical training at the University of British Columbia. This RCPSC-accredited program incorporates a rigorous research component into the clinical demands of a traditional surgical residency.
For Dr. Demsey, this residency period encompassed both plastic and reconstructive surgery training, while he simultaneously pursued his master’s degree in biomedical and mechanical engineering. He then went on to complete a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the University of Toronto, adding a specialist focus to round out his training.
